My 2 month old german shepherd is losing hair constantly and scratching and biting himself, he's starting to have empty scratch-like on his face, it cant be fleas or worms cz he had them n he finished his medince course and they'r gone. he's eating puppy food and boiled chicken.

HI

Could be mites, lice, fleas, tick, dry skin, allergies to house cleaners, etc. Demodex mange starts on the face travels down the neck and on to the front legs and then spreads to the whole body and hair falls out like crazy he should have a skin scraping they itch really bad.

take him to a doctor so he can get better

maybe the soap you clean him with, I'd leave out the boiled chicken and use a dry dog food

He needs vaccination and deworm injection......take him to the VET and explain the situation....

You know most flea and tick protection products only work for a few days. So dont rule out fleas and ticks. Your food sounds really good actually. That will keep your dog healthy longer than ordianary pet food by itself. Try giving him a bath and if it still does not work spread his hair apart where he is scratching and see if there is a tick. If you still have no luck take him to a vet because he may be allergic to something. My trainers dog was allergic to his food and he had a huge rash under his coat and would not stop scratching till he went to the vet and was put on allergy medication and a new food. Hope this helps!!

It is possible that your puppy may have gotten a skin disease (either from the medicines or elsewhere). Thake him to the vet for further assesment and to get medications for it.

If you are warm in your area out side 65 degrees or better it may be a mite. Some times mange will happen in pups. Shepard's do have an under coat and they will shed the puppy fur. Only you can tell by what it looks like. I say check with your local feed store that sells farm supply and ask if they have a red mange treatment that is safe for a pup. Make sure you watch the wounds and try bathing him in warm water and Hartz makes a Oatmeal shampoo that will help with itchy skin. Hope he is not allergy prone, you may need to change is food if the mange treatment and shampoo do not show improvement. IF your area is warm treat the grass area around his pen or your home for fleas just encase. A flea can jump on bite then jump off also. Good luck,

Could be puppy mange. My lactating ***** had the same symptoms and the vet scraped her skin where her fur was falling out and had it tested. It could have been caused by the stress of birthing eight puppies, the vet said.Apparently it's not as serious as regular mange (whatever that is!), but it has to be treated. I was given some sort of anti-fungal or anti-bacterial liquid I had to dilute with water and apply directly to the affected area. After a few days it cleared up nicely.

My female Shepherd is 3 years old and still itches A LOT. I've taken her to 3 different vet's - she's gone threw multiple skin scrapes, Injections, and a handful of other things... yet the vets don't even know what it is. She doesn't have ticks or fleas (I'm learning to be a dog groomer) but no one can figure out what's going on. She had a hot spot on her butt (but we took care of that). The main area that she scratches is her ears %26amp; face... she's a beautiful girl with balding ears %26amp; puff redness around her eyes. Anyone have any ideas?
