Vegetarianism has nothing to do with losing hair... the two are completely unrelated.

You should get yourself to a doctor right away.

I have never had a balanced diet in my life, not during decades of omnivorism or almost 7 years of being veg, and I have to have my stylist thin out my hair whenever I get a cut.

I guess I would have to wonder how old you are, how stressed you are and if hair loss runs in your family (usually skips generations). Those would be factors.

If you still think it is diet related, here is an example of a balanced vegetarian diet. http://www.vegsoc.org/newveg/fft/balance...

I am sorry you are having this issue, but you should go to a doctor. If you do go and make it all about vegetarianism, you doc may miss what is actually going on.

Go see your doctor. Really.

It might have nothing to do with your diet, but if it is your diet he or she can recomend the foods you need to keep your diet balanced as a vegetarian.

its because you stopped eating iron and that is in meat. You can't stop cold turkey. Take iron inriched vitamins. and your hair will start growing back in the mean time go to a docter and follow any advise he or she gives you

Go to the doctor, you need to be assessed. Tell the doctor everything. Don't be afraid, take action. Once you know the reason, almost certainly a nutrition deficiency you can remedy it. If you wait though you could suffer other health problems.

My guess is that your new diet didn't take into account the nutrients you lost from cutting meat out.

Anyways, see a doctor. If you have a serious symptom such as hair loss, there's a good chance that you have other problems that you aren't aware of yet. Anything anyone on the internet says won't be as good as a professional's opinion, and a doctor will be able to help you plan a healthy vegetarian diet or least point you to a qualified nutritionist.

OK you have major nutrition deflation now you need to go to the doctor and start eating a nutritious diet.I am vegetarian too so i am not trying to get you to eat meat but you need help!!!

Your diet isn't balanced see a doctor soon

You could have anemia....meat has iron that is readily available to the body, but vegetables have far less.

Check with your doctor to rule out a medical cause, read more about meeting your nutritional needs, and get more iron in your diet. Your hair loss should not be permanent, but I have more concern about your cardiac risk with the anemia. I went back to semi-veg for that reason.

That's not good...maybe you should go to the doctor instead of asking random people on the internet that could give you false information like stupid stuff. Oh and maybe eat some meat?

It's most likely stress or lack of a balanced diet, which is perfectly feasible and accessible as a vegetarian. Make sure you get varied grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and fruits.

OR, in the alternative, maybe as an omnivore, you didn't lose enough hair and you are now at the normal rate of hair loss, about 50-100 strands a day.

Do yoga for stress.

If your hair is longer, then, you might notice more loss since the loose strands are easier to find.

Good luck!

YOU NEED MORE PROTEIN! take a multivitamin every morning. Eat protein bars everyday. Like the South Beach Diet kind. Cranberry almond flavor is yummy! (my favorite) Eat boca veggie burgers original flavors on a wheat sandwhich roll, ketchup, lettuce, and tomotoe. Tastes just like anormal burger... so yummy with 10 g of protein! you need a lot of protein in your diet... i heard im supposed to get like 100 g? you should double check but i definitely think your not getting nearly enough of it as you need!

If you're losing that much hair you should make sure it's not something unrelated to diet. In any case, the only thing that worked for my friend's hair(which was really thin and gross looking) was lots of leafy green veggies. Specifically cooked greens like collards and swiss chard. Good luck:o

Are you eating a handful of nuts every day or so? I know a girl who ate this very restrictive diet (which included CHICKEN, by the way), but she wasn't getting enough healthy fat and her hair started to come out in clumps. The doctors had her eat almonds every day and it halted the hair loss. It sounds like you are doing something wrong, for sure. I'd get a book on how to eat like a healthy vegetarian! BECOMING VEGETARIAN (or BECOMING VEGAN) is good and tells you why each kind of food is important.

You should definately go see your GP. You are probably lacking Iron aswell as a number of diffenent vitamins and minerals. You need to eat plenty of starchy vegetables, lots of nuts and dried fruits, beans (especially butter beans, broad beans, baked beans, etc) and legumes. You can find protein bars packed with iron at any supermarket. But make sure you research vegetarianism fully before embarking on it so that you arent missing anything. If you are tired constantly, if you cant concentrate or feel light-headed, dizzy and nauseous then you are probably anemic so take an iron tablet. Be careful though, and only take ONE a day. Hope it helps.

It could be because your body is not getting all the vitamins and nutrition's it needs. But if u are losing lots of hair u might want to go see an doctor.

Maybe your veggie diet is not balanced. Go see a doctor or nutritionist, you're probably deficient in iron or Bcomplex. He/she might recommend supplements.
