My 3 month old is losing his hair and i noticed mine has been falling out easily.?

Last night i noticed my hair was falling out easily when i run my hands through it and this morning i noticed my son's hair on his swing. It's not coming out in clumps but i'm concerned because I'm breastfeeding (but supplementing w/ formula) and i'm afraid that has something to do with it.

Baby hair always falls out. My son was born with a fullhead of hair...it fell out and then re-grew right away. Its perfectly normal

is your nipple hair falling out too ?

it's totally normal. my baby is almost 4 months old, and i am still losing hair, and babies lose some of their hair as well. don't worry it will eventually stop.. if it gets wors on either one of you then call the doctor.

Lots of kids loose their "first hair" and my hair has fallen out a lot since I gave birth. Talk to a stylist they will better be able to tell you why than I can, all I do know is every stylist I have seen and talked to tells me that having a baby changes your hair immensely. I used to have THICK REALLY BLOND hair now since I had my son a ton fell out it is thinner and dark dark dirty blond.

don't freak out! it's all normal. All babies I know lose at some or all of their hair. The new hair they grow in will be thicker and of a different texture. Hormones are to blame for your hair loss. It may even seem like a handful or two with every washing, but don't worry, it replaces itself quickly and will slow down as your hormones level out. I still shed hair alot and the baby is 6 months old!!

It is normal for you to loose your hair after pregancy-it usually thickens a lot during. I lost all my underarm hair too!

And your son is just loosing his newborn hair. Sometimes it will come back in (often a different color) and sometimes they stay bald for quite a while.

Totally normal. Your hair is falling out, because during pregnancy the hair that normally dies does not die due to hormones. Now that you are not pregnant, your hair is just shedding the old. Many new moms are surprised to find themselves shedding more hair than usual sometime in the first few months after giving birth, but it's perfectly normal. And there's no need to panic. You won't go bald. In fact, your hair should be back to normal by your baby's first birthday.

Here's what's going on. Normally, about 85 to 95 percent of the hair on your head is growing and the other 5 to 15 percent is in a resting stage. After the resting period, this hair falls out (often while you're brushing or shampooing your hair) and is replaced by new growth. The average woman sheds about 100 hairs a day.

During pregnancy, increased levels of estrogen prolong the growing stage so there are fewer hairs in the resting stage and fewer falling out each day, so you have thicker, more luxuriant tresses. But after you give birth, your estrogen levels take a tumble and a lot more hair follicles enter the resting stage 閳?and that means more hair coming out in the shower or on the brush. This unusual shedding will taper off and your hair will be back to its pre-pregnancy thickness about six to 12 months after you give birth.

Your baby is just losing his newborn hair. It will grow back. Just as baby teeth have to fall out before the permanent ones can come in, soft, downy baby hair has to make way for a child's mature hair. So don't worry 閳?some hair loss is perfectly normal during your baby's first six months. Since your baby spends a lot of time on her back during her first few months while she's sleeping and playing, the part of her head that presses up against the floor or mattress may be where she loses the most hair, simply because it's the site of the most constant friction and pressure. As she learns to sit up and her mature hair starts to grow in, the problem should correct itself. Your baby may also develop a bald spot if she bangs her head against her crib 閳?a generally harmless behavior she'll outgrow before long.

I also breastfed and formula fed my son, but I had no problems so I don't think that's the reason. What position is your baby sleeping? If he's sleeping on his back the hair in the back of his head may come out. And for you, I've heard that you grow hair when your pregnant and since you're no longer pregnant your hear is shedding. But you should ask a doctor since I'm not an expert.

Pregnancy And Hair Loss

Pregnancy changes your entire body, and your hair is no exception. Many women experience luxuriant growth and increased thickness, while others find that their once lively locks have become dull or limp.

Increased Estrogen

If you find that your hair is growing fast and thick, you can thank the increased amount of estrogen in your body. Estrogen sends a signal to your hair follicles that they need to get growing and stop shedding. Increased estrogen also revs up your metabolism, which brings nutrients to your scalp as well as to your growing belly. In addition, many women eat better and take vitamins during pregnancy, which leads to healthy hair growth as well as a healthy body.

Texture Changes

If your mane seems to change texture 閳?from straight to curly, full to limp 閳?or won閳ユ獩 take a perm, that閳ユ獨 because the pregnancy hormones also affect the very structure of your hair.

They get to the cortex, which is responsible for giving hair its curl and elasticity. According to one mom of a 17-month old baby boy, 閳ユ穾bout three months into my pregnancy, my hairdresser pointed out that my hair seemed thicker and curlier than before. And I had always had rather fine, straight hair.閳?

Work With Your Hair - Not Against It

Instead of trying to fight these changes, learn to work with them. Running to the salon every few weeks to trim back your new growth can be expensive and time consuming. Why not revel in your newly lush locks? Invest in some snazzy hair accessories to dress it up or wear it down in all its lustrous glory. If you find yourself suddenly wavy or curly, invest in products that help define the shape and fight frizz. Give limp locks a boost with thickening and volumizing products concentrated at the roots. If you閳ユ獧e not sure where to begin, ask your stylist for tips and product recommendations.

Treat Yourself

To keep your hair and scalp in good condition, treat yourself to a soothing aromatherapy scalp massage once every few weeks. Simply add several drops of essential oils to a half-cup of warm vegetable oil. Essential oils considered safe to use during pregnancy include lavender, neroli, patchouli, sandalwood and ylang ylang. Massage into your scalp and ends, then wrap your hair in a warm towel and relax for as long as you like.

Hair and Health

Since hair is one of the first indicators of good health, women suffering from severe morning sickness or poor eating habits should look to their hair for warning signs that they閳ユ獧e not getting enough nutrients, especially iron. Even a small iron deficiency can lead to dry, brittle hair that閳ユ獨 lighter than your natural color and falls out easily. If you notice any alarming changes in your hair, be sure to tell your doctor.

Post-pregnancy Fallout

After the baby comes, don閳ユ獩 be surprised if all that beautiful new growth begins to fall out. Many women notice increased shedding from about 3 to 6 months after delivery, which is simply a sign of the body adjusting as hormone levels return to normal. It may take a couple of hair growth cycles (up to several years) before your texture completely returns to normal, especially if you wear your hair long.

Remember that everyone閳ユ獨 body 閳?and hair 閳?reacts differently to pregnancy. Have fun with the changes and remember, they閳ユ獧e only temporary.

GO to your doctor and his pediatricain. You should both be seen to ensure everything is okay with your body chemicals.

Don't panic, and don't order a hair-piece. This fallout is normal, but it will stop well in advance of baldness - though an occasional new mum may begin to wonder if it will. Ordinary, the average person sheds 100 hairs a day, each of which is replaced by a new growth. When a woman is pregnant (or taking oral contraceptives) hormonal changes slow normal hair loss considerably, making the hair thicker and more luxuriant than ever before. But this reprieve from normal hair loss lasts only as long as pregnancy. During the first three to six months after delivery (or after one stops taking the pill), all the hairs that were scheduled to have fallen out during pregnancy are shed. Regrowth can't keep up with the loss at first, and so hair looks much thinner than usual.

By the end of your baby's first year, your hair should be back to pre-pregnancy thickness. In the meantime, a good haircut may minimise the problem.

Totally normal. Women don't lose much hair during pregnancy and then afterward many "shed" a ton of hair. Kids also often lose their first head of hair (particularly if it was dark colored hair.) Don't worry...you're both ok!

Congrats on your new baby!
