We live in one of the more polluted cities in America. Could something in the water or air cause ladies hair to thin? I've noticed this in a group of friends age 24-30. Please answer with research if you have it.

Toxins and fluoride can cause problems with imbalancing their estrogen which affects things like their hair.
Supplements for healthy hair are
vitamin C, zinc, selenium, PABA, pantothenic acid, biotin and choline.
also use a ph balanced shampoo.

Teasing, bleaching, pulling, corn-rows, etc etc, will have a huge impact versus pollutants. I'd go with hair abuse before blaming dirty air. Look to the obvious.

well if you keep your up in a ponytail it weakens your hair and that causes it to fall out also if your hair gets exposed to alot of bleach in the water like when you go in a pool it damages your hair

toxins in the air can get on the scalp and dry out the hair folicles and kill them making it impossible for hair to stay intact with your scalp. if you breath in te toxins it can kill brain cells and also damage the hair follicles.
also smoking can thin the hair because of the smoke gettting in the scalp and the toxins getting in your body.
im sure it is due to the area you are in

Sometimes rapid changes in diet will cause lots of hair to fall out approximately 3 months after the fact.
