She has a thyroid disease and is being treated for this, so it is not hyperthyroid. her tail at this time is about 50% without hair. We have tried different food but no luck there. She is a siberian Husky.

have your vet check it for mange, this causes hair loss and in the later stage the dog will start acting much different than usual,, have the vet run a screening for what it could be,,

Is the dog chewing at it? If not is might be nerves or she may even not being getting enough stimulation by toys or walking or othe activities. You should call the vet and let them know so that they can get you some medication so that her tail doen't get raw. There are also alot of other reasons why she could she could be losing her hair. I would have your vet check the dose of thyroid replacement medication. Husky's have a very high metabolism and you dogs dose may be off. I had a Keeshond that had the same thing happen (she had low thyroid) and it ended up too high for her age and she started loosing hair again
